I felt the Alex Bag video brought to mind Chris Crocker, a pseudo celebrity who uses YouTube as a means to gain the public's attention. He creates characters and acts out skits that are amusing an entertaining. He is probably most known for his “Leave Britney Alone” video which is targeted at paparazzi and critics of Britney Spears. Some of the characters that Bag creates were similar to Crocker’s in that they wear silly wigs and costumes, are funny and act ditsy. Bag pokes fun at art students in particular. When she plays the role of the art student at SVA a lot of what she is saying I can relate to, so it’s not so much what she’s saying that is humorous but rather the manner in which the character speaks. She puts on this suburban, brain-dead teenage girl accent that debases the content of what she is saying. If it were said by anyone else it could be taken seriously, but the fact that she uses this accent makes it less significant, which ultimately makes the viewer question if common day dialogue is actually as consequential as is made out to be.
